Copenhagen’s Climate, Environment and Technical Committee on 28 September 2026 approved, by 6 votes to 4, sending an adjusted zero-emission zone proposal to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency. All of Vesterbrogade is the northern boundary and is not included in the zone, in part because Frederiksberg Municipality has pointed out detour driving and parking in the neighbouring areas, and because the police have pointed out passability on the stretch. Skelbækgade and Halmtorvet from Skelbækgade to Slagterboderne are also outside, as is the area around Copenhagen Central Station.

According to DR it is Denmark’s first zero-emission zone, and the zone lies between Enghavevej, Vesterbrogade and Ingerslevsgade. DR’s graphic also keeps Kødbyen out.

Vester Berg (postcode 1800) lies west of Enghavevej and is not in the zone. The proposal is not final: the Environmental Protection Agency has 10 weeks, and the City Council (Borgerrepræsentationen) is expected to consider it in late 2026. Budget 2026 puts private cars at early 2028 and commercial traffic at mid-2029.
